The preliminary data items generally are based on company reports that precede official SEC filings of 10Q (Quarterly) and 10K (Annual) reports. This set also includes the most recent, restated or final values for each preliminary report item. - Compustat Unrestated Quarterly via WRDS
- Compustat Unrestated provides official, originally-reported quarterly financial statement data. These item values are typically the same as the company’s first 10Q filing for a quarter and they are effectively the same financials that markets use when making their investing, credit and pricing decisions.
Compared to restated data, they provide a better basis for performing research that requires information on 'what markets knew when' and calculating surprise announcements. This set also includes the most recent, restated or final values for each unrestated item. - CRSP via WRDS (+Merged File)

- Provides analysis and descriptions of mutual funds and stocks. Users can create lists of stocks and mutual funds based upon chosen criteria, and obtain portfolio analyses with asset allocation and diversification information. Morningstar issues reports twice a month on a five-month schedule. Each fund is rated once every five months. All pricing is current information, and ratings and risk information are updated daily. Intended for the individual investor. Data and portfolios cannot be exported, only printed.

- Morningstar Library Edition
- Provides analysis and descriptions of mutual funds and stocks. Morningstar issues reports twice a month on a five-month schedule. Each fund is rated once every five months. All pricing is current information, and ratings and risk information are updated daily.Intended for the individual investor. Data and portfolios cannot be exported, only printed.

- Use this Morningstar product for detailed, in-depth analysis and screening of mutual funds and fund peformance. - IMF International Financial Statistics
- International statistics on all aspects of international domestic finance. Time series summarizing covering over 200 countries and areas. Includes all the series appearing on the IFS country pages, exchange rate series for all Fund member countries (plus Aruba and the Netherland Antilles), major Fund account series, and most other world, area, and country series from the IFS world tables. The Country, World, and Commodity Prices Tables, as presented in the monthly printed copy of IFS, are available as selection options. The Economic Concept View provides a cross-country view of the concepts in the IFS by individual or groups of countries. Files may be downloaded in Excel (.xls), HTML, and ASCII (csv and tab delimited) formats.

- Indexes statistics on population and demographics, business and financial activities, domestic and international trade, government programs, health, and politics. Provides indexing and abstracts of statistical information published by the U.S. government (American Statistics Index), international intergovernmental organizations (Index to International Statistics), and some publications by private organizations and state government agencies (Statistical Reference Index).
Full text or links to the full text are available for some of the indexed sources. Duke does not subscribe to the "Power Tables" section of this database; the only information that is available here is what LexisNexis provides free -- use Search Abstract instead.

- STAT-USA/Internet, a service of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is a single point of access to authoritative business, trade, and economic information from across the US Government. STAT-USA/Internet consists of two main databases:
State of the Union (SOTN) gauges the direction of the U.S. economy and contains a repository of economic indicators on topics such as employment, wholesale and retail prices, monetary and housing trends, gross domestic product, etc.
Global Business Opportunities (GLOBUS) & the National Trade Data Bank (NTDB) provide access to over 200,000 current and historical documents on export opportunities by industry, country, and product; political and socio-economic conditions in hundreds of countries and more. - World Development Indicators
- World Development Indicators online offers access to more than 550 development indicators, with time series for 207 countries and 18 country groups from 1960 to 2000, where data are available. Data includes social, economic, financial, natural resources, and environmental indicators. Allows comparison between countries, and the option to export data as Excel or ASCII.

- contains M&A, IPO and venture capital deals with links to detailed company financial information.
Zephyr has information on over 300,000 transactions (June 2005),and approximately 60,000 new deals are added per year.

Bank Regulatory Database via WRDS- The 5 Bank Regulatory Databases provide accounting data for Bank Holding Companies, Commercial Banks, Savings Banks, and Savings and Loans Institutions. The source of the data comes from the required regulatory forms filled for supervising purposes.
Blockholders Database via WRDS- This database provides information on blockholders (owners of very large numbers of stock shares) from a sample of 1,913 companies used in a study by Jennifer Dlugosz, Rudiger Fahlenbrach, Paul A. Gompers, and Andrew Metrick. This is a research dataset and is not currently updated.
CBOE Volatility Index via WRDS- The CBOE (Chicago Board Options Exchange) Volatility Index(VIX) is a key measure of market expectations of near-term volatility conveyed by S&P 500 stock index option prices. The VIX measures the market's expectation of 30-day volatility. The VIX is based on S&P 500 index option prices and incorporates information from the volatility skew by using a wider range of strike prices rather than just at-the-money series.

- Compustat Global Vantage provides data covering publicly traded companies in more than 80 countries, representing over 90% of the world's market capitalization, including coverage of over 96% of European market capitalization and 88% of Asian market capitalization.
S&P's EMDB provides daily and monthly coverage of 53 markets and more than 2,200 stocks in developing countries. - Compustat Preliminary History via WRDS
- Compustat Preliminary covers cases where a company reported preliminary figures (usually covering a period that has just ended), along with the corresponding release dates and the subsequently released figures, in both Annual and Quarterly formats.
The preliminary data items generally are based on company reports that precede official SEC filings of 10Q (Quarterly) and 10K (Annual) reports. This set also includes the most recent, restated or final values for each preliminary report item. - Compustat Unrestated Quarterly via WRDS
- Compustat Unrestated provides official, originally-reported quarterly financial statement data. These item values are typically the same as the company’s first 10Q filing for a quarter and they are effectively the same financials that markets use when making their investing, credit and pricing decisions.
Compared to restated data, they provide a better basis for performing research that requires information on 'what markets knew when' and calculating surprise announcements. This set also includes the most recent, restated or final values for each unrestated item. - CRSP Mutual Funds via WRDS
- CRSP Mutual Funds provides historical and current mutual fund NAVs, profiles, monthly asset data, and data on "dead" funds.
- CRSP via WRDS (+Merged File)
- The Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP) maintains a time series collection of security price, return, and volume data for the NYSE, AMEX and Nasdaq stock markets.
The Merged file includes detailed income statement and balance sheet data from Compustat.
Direct Marketing Educational Foundation Data via WRDS- Four individual data sets, each containing customer buying history for about 100,000 customers of nationally known catalog and non-profit database marketing businesses are available through DMEF to academic researchers for use within academic situations.
The data sets included are: Non-Profit Organization, Multi-Division Catalog, Specialty Catalog, and Reproduction Catalog. These are research datasets and are not currently updated.
Dow Jones Averages - Total Return Indexes via WRDS- Covers the Dow Jones Averages and the Dow Jones Total Return Indexes. The Dow Jones Averages are comprised of The Daily and Monthly Dow Jones Composite, as well as The Dow Jones Industrial, The Dow Jones Transportation, The Dow Jones Utility, the The Dow 10, and The Dow 5.
Fama-French Factors and Liquidity via WRDS- The Fama-French Factors, constructed by Eugene Fama and Kenneth French capture a statistically significant fraction of the variation in stock returns between two portfolios formed on size, as measured by market equity (ME), and three portfolios using the ratio of book equity to market equity (BE/ME) as a proxy for value.
This data set also includes the Pastor-Stambaugh Liquidity series and the Sadka Liquidity measures. These are research datasets and are not currently updated.
FDIC Research Information System via WRDS- The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Research Information System contains historical financial data for all entities filing the Report of Condition and Income (Call Report) and some savings institutions filing the OTS Thrift Financial Report (TFR). These entities include commercial banks, savings banks, or savings and loans.
FDIC files include details on structure and merger history, financial time series and ratios, plus complex derived integers data.
Federal Reserve Bank Reports via WRDS- The Federal Reserve Bank Reports database contains three datasets collected from Federal Reserve Banks. Two of them (Foreign Exchange Rates and Interest Rates) come from reports published for the Federal Reserve Board (H.10 and H.15 reports).
The third dataset contains the Coincident State Indexes from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. - First Call Historical Database via WRDS
- The First Call Historical Database, or FCHD, is a history of First Call's Real Time Earnings Estimates.

- Provides consensus and detail forecasts from security analysts, including earnings per share, revenue, cash flow, long-term growth projections and stock recommendations.

- IRI Marketing Factbook via WRDS provides point of sale information from 11,300 grocery stores and 7500 drug stores.
Contains only historical data from 1983 to 1997. - IRRC Directors Data via WRDS
- The Investor Responsibility Research Center provides independent research and data covering corporate governance, proxy voting, and corporate responsibility issues. IRRC's Directors Dataset details the structure and practices of boards of directors for around 1,500 of the largest companies publicly traded in the U.S.
- ISSM via WRDS
- The Institute for the Study of Security Markets (ISSM) database contains tick-by-tick data covering the NYSE and AMEX between 1983 and 1992. Each year of data is divided into two files, one for trades and one for quotes.
- Ivy DB (OptionMetrics) via WRDS
- OptionMetrics's IvyDB is a comprehensive source of historical price and implied volatility data for the US equity and index options markets.
Penn World Tables via WRDS- The Penn World Tables provide purchasing power parity and national income accounts converted to international prices for 188 countries for some or all of the years 1950-2004. These are research datasets and are not currently updated.
PHLX Currency Options and Volatility via WRDS- The Philadelphia Stock Exchange's [PHLX] United Currency Options Market (UCOM), provides both standardized and customized currency options.
Customized currency options offer choice of expiration date, strike (exercise) price, premium payment and any combination of 10 currencies currently available for a total of 100 possible currency pairs, along with a dataset focused on implied volatility. These are research datasets and are not currently updated. - S&P ExecuComp via WRDS
- ExecuComp is part of the Compustat suite and contains executive compensation data from 1992 - 2004.

SEC Order Execution Statistics via WRDS- This historical dataset (July 2001 - July 2005) was created to study compliance with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Rule 11Ac1-5 which requires that market centers trading national market system securities make monthly, electronic disclosures of basic information concerning their quality of executions on a stock-by-stock basis.
These disclosures include how market orders of various sizes are executed relative to the public quotes and information about effective spreads, and the extent to which they provide executions at prices better than the public quotes to investors using limit orders. - TAQ via WRDS
- he Trade and Quote (TAQ) database contains intraday transactions data (trades and quotes) for all securities listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and American Stock Exchange (AMEX), as well as Nasdaq National Market System (NMS) and Small Cap issues.
- TFN Insider Filings via WRDS
- This data set provides long term data on company insider stock and derivative transactions.
