Using DataStream
  • DataStream is client-based software which is only available on workstations in the Ford Library Database Room. DataStream includes equity prices, bonds, market indices, futures and options, and interest and exchange rate data.
  • Only 2 users may connect to DataStream simultaneously.
  • DataStream is unavailable on Sundays from about 2pm-4:30pm EST while the vendor performs system maintenance.
  • Fuqua Faculty only: may request an installation of either the DSWindows or DS Advance client software for your office desktop or laptop.

Connecting to DataStream (DS Windows)

Retrieving Codes

To download from DataStream, you must first retrieve the mnemonic codes for your data.

1. Click the Code button at the top of the main DataStream window.

2. Change the pull-down menu in the code dialog box that appears to match the type of data you need.

3. Place your cursor in the Find: box, and type in your company or index name.

4. Write down the Mnemonic value for each company or index. You'll need them later.

Hint : Use the "DTypes" button to show a list of all available datatypes to qualify that particular mnemonic code. For example, the FTSE100 index dividend yield can be retrieved using the DY qualifier when you download your data.
