Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan means requesting an item from a library outside of Duke, when the book or journal you need isn't owned by a Duke Library.

  1. Search the library catalog first to find out if the book, or the journal containing your article is owned by Duke.
  2. If the book is owned by a Duke Library, use the "Request A Book" link from the menu at the left; OR the "Request This Item" link in the Duke Library catalog.
  3. If the book or journal you need is not owned by a Duke Library, please send an email to containing as complete a citation as possible. A complete citation should include:

    Book / Article Author
    Book / Article Title
    Journal Title (if requesting an article)
    Journal Volume & Issue Number (if requesting an article)
    Journal Article / Book Chapter Page Numbers Needed
    Book / Article Publication Year or Date
    Book ISBN / Journal ISSN (if known)
