The Library Assistant, Senior is a full-time, 40 hour per week position that provides essential public services to Duke University faculty, students and staff, as well as visitors to the Ford Library. Responsibilities include: circulation support, interlibrary loans, student training and reference support. The incumbent in this position communicates continually with library users including faculty members, students and staff at the Fuqua School of Business and throughout Duke University and uses a wide variety of computer and library software.
The Library Assistant, Senior for circulation and reference reports to the Access Services Librarian with a dotted line relationship to the Associate Director for Public Services at the Ford Library.
Manage all interlibrary borrowing (ILB) services for Fuqua students, staff and faculty and all interlibrary lending services (ILL) to other academic libraries.

Four years of post-secondary education or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience preferred.
The position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with faculty members, students and staff at the Fuqua School of Business and Duke University. Also required is demonstrated proficiency with computer and library software, such as MS Word, Excel, Access, WorldShare, ILLiad, ALEPH, and Endeca/Blacklight; experience training and supervising students or employees; the ability to work independently and as a team; to effectively organize and prioritize daily work; and a demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
Prior library reference and circulation experience is desired.
